Spring is here! Frogs and toads are spawning, our kestrels are nesting, the daffodils are out and the grass is growing. Fly life is emerging too and this has certainly brought the fish on.
"The Regulars" Jack Hay, Haddington had one at 8lb and one at 7lb 4oz on damsel and Eddie Peden had 9 on c/r on buzzers. Steve Rodger has hit top form lately with 14 and 13 fish landed during his last two visits on Cat's Whisker and damsel - thanks also to Steve for the wee diving job to retrieve our fencing hammer! A. Pooley had a beauty at 11lb 8oz on a damsel and A. Bowler had 10 on c/r on blobs. Matty Devine and Keith Watson, from Hadston and Amble respectively, both continued their great form with a tremendous day - Matty landed 21 on c/r to Zonkers and Bloodworms whilst Keith almost matched him taking 18 on black lures. Andy Adshead from Edinburgh had 8 on c/r mainly to lures and Jim Skilling, Shotts, landed a stunner of 12lbs on a "Shaggy" blob. Tommy Dickson, Dunbar, had a ten pounder on a Diawl Bach and M. Campbell, Glasgow, on his first visit caught a beauty of 9lb 4oz on a black lure. Peter Craig, Dunbar, had a great morning with 14 on c/r, including a cracker of 12lb, on blood worm patterns. Another Dunbar regular, George Liddle, had 3 for 12lb 8oz on damsels.
Last minute spaces are still available for the Iain Barr Airflo World Bank Masters which will be held on Sunday 18th. March - 9am start. The season is well ahead of last year at this time and is shaping up very nicely. Hopefully April can match last year with the tremendous Hawthorn hatch! Until then enjoy some very good fishing in March.
