Catch Report to 28/02/12
Well the temps are rising, it was 14C at the fishery today! OK it's not quite spring but we're getting there - toads and newts are out in force and the daffodils are emerging.
The Scotland Fly Fishing Team Fundraiser was held on Saturday, 25th Feb - having been previously cancelled due to ice! 48 anglers assembled to do (friendly) battle and were not to be disappointed despite the windy conditions. In all, 237 fish were caught and released in 6 hours. The winner on the day was Alan Grant, Edinburgh, with 13 fish but the real winner was the team who raised nearly £2000 for their efforts - well done and thanks to all, especially Nigel Burns and Jock Kettles. Best of luck for the Home Internationals boys.
Tommy Dickson, Dunbar, took 12 on his own Duckfly tying and Colin Shillinglaw, Edinburgh, had 8 on Yellow Dancers. John Butler, Gorebridge, had a beauty of 11lbs on a Black Cat and J. McIndoe took an 8lber on c/r on Pheasant Tail Nymph.
Jock Dyet used Damsels and Black Nomad to have a great day on c/r with 18 caught! Peter Craig from Dunbar continued his fine form with 9 to Damsels and Dancers whilst Jim Skilling, Shotts, had a 10lber on a Damsel.
Cooler conditions are expected in the coming week but the trend is upwards.
